Light Kit wiring instructions

Thank you for your purchase of the FTP pitbike / mini bike headlight kit. By following these wiring instructions you will be riding in the dark in a few minutes.

Basic wiring connections:

From Main Harness- Plug the 4 pin Connector into the Voltage regulator/ rectifier.

From Main Harness- Fasten the large green ground eyelet under a suitable chassis or engine ground.

From Main Harnes- Plug in the 5 pin switch connector- Optional high beam low beam circuit requires swapping the black/white with the black wire position. –see note below.

Harness to Engine output.

From Main harness you will see 1 yellow wire with male end, and 1 white wire with male engine. These plug into the yellow and white wires coming out of your engines Stator. Most Chinese pitbikes have these two wires taped up inside the harness somewhere, as it is standard for most Chinese pitbikes to ship with universal stators capable of powering lights, but they are rarely used. If you can’t find them, remove your flywheel cover and ensure that your stator has at least 5 wires coming from it.

Blk/red- used to power CDI box

Blue/white- used for spark plug timing signal

 Green- Ground for CDI

Green/white- Optional wire sometimes (but rarely) used for a neutral switch. Ignore.

Yellow- to give voltage regulator/ rectifier current *********

White- to give voltage regulator/ rectifier current***********

******** Yellow and white are your only concern when hooking up the lights. Other color codes are for reference only and will already be connected to your factory harness/ cdi system.

Harness to Headlight connections.

From Main harness Plug wires in according to the following.

Harness red to White wire of 2 wire bundle

Harness Green to Green of 2 wire bundle

Harness Green to Black of 4 wire bundle

Harness White to White of 4 wire bundle

Harness Blue to Orange of 4 wire bundle.

Optional Connections:

For best results and high / low, running light options, we suggest you switch the positions of the black/ white wire, and all black wire in the plug attached to the switch assembly.

Looking from the back (side the wires enter the plug) the factory switch harness looks like this. It give you basic light functions using the red on/off switch. The high low beam will not function.

For Increased High Low beam options from the switch switch the black and black/ white wires. This will allow more options when riding your bike. You can either remove the pins by inserting a small pin to depress the pin lock on the pins, or simply cut and splice the wires around if you are not familiar with removing pins from connectors.    The new set up will look like this:

Optional Start button or kill switch. You will notice the the yellow electric start button on your new switch assembly is not used. Nor is the associated 2 pin connector coming out of the switch (Brown wire and Blue Wire)

This can be used as either an electric start switch, or Kill switch to eliminate all the switches on your controls.   Simply plug in your existing electric start harness to this one if you want to start your bike from the new switch, or connect your existing kill switch wires to this 2 pin plug and have your kill switch on the yellow button of your new assembly.
